About: West Sussex Golf Club

West Sussex Golf Club is a members' golf club, in Sussex. The club was first formed in 1931.

West Sussex Golf Club, established in 1931 by Guy Campbell and Cecil Hunter, sits on gentle heathland 50 miles south of London. Tom McKenzie, who has carried out restorative work at the course, joined the Cookie Jar Golf Podcast (Ep. 356, Oct 2024) to "talk through some of the holes"; the club allowed the team to sit down in the committee room. Ep. 310 noted "the golf IQ brain of Colt and the strategic skill" in design, with Tom McKenzie's recent work "mainly restorative."

The par-68 layout features five par 3s, twelve par 4s and one par 5. The 6th – a 222-yard par 3 – and the 13th, with fine bunkering and heather-lined fairways, stand out. Heather, green turf and white sand create a vivid heathland test.
