Weymouth Golf Club is a members' golf club, in Dorset. The club was first formed in 1909.
Weymouth Golf Club was first played on its present location in March 1910 after a group of Weymouth businessmen commissioned James Braid, an Open champion and course architect, to design the course. The club was then sold to the Town Council in 1922 due to the financial difficulties after the First World War, which has since managed the course.
The course underwent significant changes including agricultural use during the Second World War and a restoration to its full 18 holes in 1953. Weymouth Golf Club Limited took over the lease from the Town Council in 1965 and secured a 100-year lease in the 1980s, coinciding with a major revision of the layout due to the construction of a relief road.
In 1993, the club celebrated the opening of a new clubhouse, and over the years, the course has seen improvements that maintain its exceptional quality. Weymouth Golf Club, set in the center of Weymouth, Dorset, and designed by James Braid in 1909, is known for its early strategic design philosophy featuring several subtle doglegs.
The course at Weymouth Golf Club offers views of the Dorset countryside and the Jurassic Coast from its central Weymouth location. It is an 18-hole parkland course that has been recognized with a regional Silver certificate by H.S.B.C. and praised by Golf Monthly as one of the friendliest private members clubs in the south.
Visitors are welcome at Weymouth Golf Club. Weekday visitor rates are £80, while weekend rates are £90. County Card holders can play for £40 on weekdays and £45 on weekends.
