Whipsnade Park Golf Club

Whipsnade Park Golf Club was established in 1974 on land acquired in 1972, with former England rugby prop forward and entrepreneur Larry Webb coordinating its creation and enlisting George Hamshaw to design the course. Construction of the course involved George Hamshaw hitting golf balls to determine distances and optimize the use of the terrain.

In 1978, Derek Whalley took over the club, and a partnership with the Forestry Commission led to the planting of 20,000 trees between 1979 and 1984, shaping the tree-lined parkland course into its current mature state. Additional refurbishments to the golf club occurred in 1990, including a Professional Shop, a new patio area, and a putting green alongside the clubhouse, which was originally composed of converted farm buildings featuring flint walls and oak beams.

The golf course itself is a challenge for players of all abilities, featuring an 18-hole, par 73 layout set in over 150 acres of land. The course is elevated about 700 feet above sea level in the Chiltern Hills, is gently undulating, offering ease of walking, and it borders on two sides by ZSL Whipsnade Zoo.

Whipsnade Park Golf Club's location provides panoramic views of Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, and Bedfordshire, and its features include covered driving bays, a full-size grass-based driving range, as well as chipping and practice putting greens for golfers to refine their skills.

Visitor green fees are £40.00 on Mondays and Thursdays and £50.00 on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Bank Holiday Mondays. Twilight golf is available after 3 PM for £30.00 on Mondays and Thursdays and £40.00 on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. County Card holders can play for £30.00 on Monday/Thursday and £40.00 Friday/Saturday/Sunday (inc Bank Holidays) after 2pm subject to availability. Booking for County Cards must be made at least 24 hours in advance.
