About: Whitburn Golf Club

Whitburn Golf Club is a members' golf club, in Durham. The club was first formed in 1931.

Whitburn Golf Club was established in 1931 after land was purchased and Harry Colt and Co were commissioned to design the course. The course was completed in 1932 and opened in 1933, featuring 18 holes with a par 70, stretching over 6013 yards.

Located on Lizard Lane, to the east of the Cleadon Hills of South Tyneside, between South Shields and Sunderland, the course showcases panoramic coastal views. The course benefits from excellent drainage and a natural limestone base, contributing to its reputation for all-year-round playability and well-maintained greens and fairways.

Whitburn Golf Club offers a range of green fee structures, including a 'twilight' late afternoon option.

For membership inquiries, especially for those with limited income, contacting the Club Secretary is recommended to discuss potential arrangements.
