Willingdon Golf Club is a members' golf club, in Sussex. The club was first formed in 1898.
The history of the Willingdon golf course began in 1898, following the late 19th-century golfing boom, initiated by local notables such as the Marquess of Willingdon along with a simple 9-hole course and a corrugated iron hut as the clubhouse. In 1905, the course was redesigned by J.H. Taylor into a traditional 18-hole layout.
Dr. Alister MacKenzie, renowned for designing Augusta National, was commissioned in 1925 to further develop Willingdon, adding characteristic two-tier greens, notably on the 8th, 9th, 12th, and 18th holes. The modifications by MacKenzie integrated the natural land features more substantially, with all but three holes of the course being remodeled to leverage the natural contours.
Willingdon Golf Club uses a variable green fee rate system. For current pricing, please visit the Visitor Booking page.
The green fee when playing as a member's guest is £30.00.
