About: Worksop Golf Club

Worksop Golf Club is a members' golf club, in Nottinghamshire. The club was first formed in 1912.

The golf course was established in May 1912 after local gentlemen, lacking a public course, leased land and formed the initial 9-hole course which was 1877 yards in length. The course was designed by the Committee with assistance from A Murray, encompassing a leased 36 acres of land, with plans to expand to 18 holes over a total of 61 acres.

In 1914, the golf course was relocated and expanded under the design of Tom Williamson. The land was leased from the Duke of Newcastle, where a new 2850-yard 9-hole course was established, also featuring undulating ground and sandy soil.

By 1924, the golf course had evolved into an 18-hole, par-70, 5295-yard layout that was officially opened by C A Longbottom. Membership rates were set at 4 guineas for men and 2 guineas for women, with options for country membership based on proximity.

Significant changes to the course occurred between 1968 and 1995, including land acquisitions that allowed the addition of new holes, extending the course to 6,651 yards with a par of 72. Later renovations also addressed a challenging green and irrigation needs, capitalizing on the course's natural aquifer, the Bunter Pebble Beds.

The golf course's most recent configuration measures 6,628 yards for men and 5,928 yards for women, described as a challenging heathland course suitable for golfers of all levels due to the natural sand and gravel subsoil. It is located on the outskirts of Worksop, adjacent to Clumber Park and Sherwood Forest, benefiting from a mature woodland setting and is playable year-round.

Green fees vary depending on the time of year and day of the week. From May 1st to October 31st, weekday and weekend rates after 1:00 PM are £80.00. Between April 1st and April 30th, weekday and weekend rates after 1:00 PM are £65.00.

Discounts are available for group bookings, meal packages, and multi-round visits. County Card holders can receive a discounted rate of £45.00, provided the card is mentioned upon booking and presented upon arrival.
