Youghal Golf Club

Youghal Golf Club was inaugurated in 1898 and achieved affiliation status in 1912. The origins of golf in Youghal date back to at least 1897 when a course, accessible to all, was laid out by local residents near the seashore featuring soil well-suited for golf.

The formation of the golf club was marked by a meeting on October 22nd, 1898, at Youghal Town Hall, where a committee was established to manage the club with the Earl of Shannon as President. However, the club experienced a decline, only to revive in 1911, and was re-affiliated to the Golfing Union of Ireland in 1940.
