Enville (The Highgate) is a parkland, 18 hole golf course in Staffordshire. The course first opened on this site in 1935.
Enville Golf Club was established in 1935 by local enthusiasts who decided to create a golf course on the Common near Enville. The initial lease of the land for the course, which lasted 21 years, was negotiated with Sir John Grey of Enville Hall, who also became the club's first president.
The golf course originally consisted of nine holes when it opened on October 19, 1935, and was expanded to an 18-hole layout by May 7, 1938. Over the years, improvements were made, adding approximately 600 yards to the course and redesigning several holes.
In 1969, the clubhouse relocated to a former farmhouse, while the original clubhouse was demolished. A further nine holes were added in 1973, which included relocating three commemorating stones near the current Highgate Course's 16th tee during woodland construction.
The completion of nine additional holes in the Lodge plantation was marked by their opening on Captains Day in 1983, leading to the reorganization of the 36 holes into two separate 18-hole courses, named the Highgate Course and the Lodge Course. These two courses are located in an area of undulating terrain, combining heathland and woodland.
