Enville (The Lodge) is a parkland, 18 hole golf course in Staffordshire. The course first opened on this site in 1935.
Enville Golf Club was established in 1935, after a group of local enthusiasts decided to create a golf course on the Common near Enville. The land for the golf course was leased from Sir John Grey of Enville Hall for a term of 21 years, and he became the first president of the club.
The inaugural nine holes of the course and the original clubhouse were opened on 19th October 1935. By 7th May 1938, the golf course had expanded to 18 holes, and in the following years, the course underwent significant improvements, including a redesign that added 600 yards to the original layout.
In 1969, the clubhouse was relocated to a former farmhouse and extensively refurbished, while the original clubhouse was demolished. The golf course added nine more holes in 1973, including relocation of three stones commemorating historical tree replanting near what is now the 16th tee of the Highgate Course.
Enville Golf Club completed its 36-hole offering with the addition of the last nine holes in 1983 on Captains Day, resulting in the reorganization of the course into two distinct 18-hole courses: the Highgate Course and the Lodge Course. These courses traverse undulating terrain, comprising both heathland and woodland, providing distinct and varied playing experiences.
