Martin Ebert
Martin Ebert (b. c.1960s) is a British golf course architect and co-founder of Mackenzie & Ebert. He has advised eight Open Championship venues and 22 of the world's top 100 courses. On design method, he says: "We define things very accurately with contours, we play with the excavator of our minds in terms of visualising what we want." His philosophy centres on enjoyment: "It's where golfers get their enjoyment, so it's so critical that we maximise that... it must be stimulating so that people look forward to getting out there and hitting those shots." He champions sustainability: "Golf courses can be great havens for flora and fauna and designing in a way that will promote this to its maximum potential should always be a goal."
