Peter Alliss
Peter Alliss (1931–2020) was an English professional, broadcaster known as "The Voice of Golf," and golf course architect. He co-designed over 70 courses, first with Dave Thomas (including The Belfry, host to four Ryder Cups) and later with Clive Clark. His designs were praised for creating "a really interesting course, making use of the landscape and lots of local features"—as one club noted of Herons' Reach, with its 10 lakes and wildlife habitats. Alliss won 21 tournaments, played in eight Ryder Cups, and succeeded Henry Longhurst as the BBC's chief golf commentator. His architecture spanned 30 years across Britain, Europe, and Japan.
