Willie Auchterlonie

Willie Auchterlonie (1872–1963) was a Scottish golfer and golf course designer from St Andrews. He won the 1893 Open at age 21, making him the second-youngest Open champion after Tommy Morris Jr. He became honorary professional to the R&A in 1935, a position he held for 25 years, succeeding Old Tom Morris and Andrew Kirkaldy. Auchterlonie founded the family golf shop in St Andrews that still operates near the 18th green of the Old Course. He began as an apprentice to R. Forgan & Son and ran club-making businesses throughout his adult life.
