Cleethorpes Golf Club

The golf course originally known as 'The Grimsby and Cleethorpes Golf Club' was established on October 4th, 1894, with Lord Yarborough conducting the opening ceremony. In its inception year, 1895, the first club match was played against Beverley and East Riding Golf Club; the membership at this time was approximately 138.

The course saw expansion and the appointment of an additional groundsman in 1895, the same year that Monthly Medal Competitions were introduced and the first Club Captain was elected. The original clubhouse was opened in 1897, and the current clubhouse was constructed in 1908 on what was the property of the Rt. Hon. Earl Carrington, with a verandah added in 1928.

On August 1908, it was proposed that the club becomes a Limited Company, which was executed on December 9th, leading to the establishment of Grimsby and Cleethorpes Golf Club Limited. A name change to Cleethorpes Golf Club Limited was approved on January 8th, 1929, following a request from the Urban District Council.
