Rothley Park Golf Club

The Rothley Park Golf Club was established with its first recorded meeting on 23rd August 1911, where the committees were elected and the club rules set out. The golf course land was originally part of the Temple Estate, owned by Mr. F. Merttens, who was also the proprietor of the club at that time.

Construction of the Rothley Park Golf Course began shortly after its first meeting, and by the official opening in May 1912, 12 holes were ready for play. A year later, the course expanded to 18 holes, celebrated with a 36-hole exhibition match between James Braid and Harry Vardon.

In 1915, the members assumed ownership of the club, and Rothley Park Golf Course Company Limited was formed for land lease management. This structure was maintained until 1977, when the club members purchased the course and its buildings, ensuring member control over the club's future.

The club experienced a structural change when, in October 2017, members voted to transition from a Private Members Club to an incorporated company. By April 2018, Rothley Park Golf Club Ltd was established, with a governance model including a Board of six Directors, led by Chairman Phil Watson.
