About: The Alwoodley Golf Club

The Alwoodley Golf Club is a members' golf club, in Yorkshire. The club was first formed in 1907.

Alwoodley Golf Club in Leeds, United Kingdom, was established in 1907 and designed by Dr. Alister MacKenzie, marking the first course he ever designed. The course is renowned for its fairway and green subtleties, as well as noticeable inspirations for MacKenzie's more famous designs such as Augusta National, Crystal Downs, and Cypress Point found within its layout.

A distinguishing feature of the course is the terrain movement in holes 8, 9, and 10, with the 10th being the precursor to the famous 13th at Augusta National. Alwoodley is an 'everyday' golf course with a balance that provides enough challenge without excessive punishment, and while the front nine may offer scoring opportunities, the back nine, especially the final six holes, presents a more difficult test.

Notable holes include the risk-reward par-5 10th, the challenging par-3 9th, the unique par-4 17th, and the demanding 18th hole that requires focus and stamina. The 305-yard par-4 2nd hole affords a birdie opportunity, whereas the final hole, a 484-yard par-4, stands as the course's biggest challenge.
