Sabino Recommends

John Sabino is amongst other things, an American golf blogger (top100golf) who is one of the few golfers to have played the World Top 100 lists. Golf Lists asked John to provide his recommendations from his travels in the UK and Ireland and that is the list you see here. John had this to say about his favourites:

"When most people think of courses in the U.K. and Ireland they think about courses that the Open Championship is played on. These are indeed great courses, but my list includes only two (Carnoustie and Portrush) of those, which is really a testament to how much great golf there is in the British Isles. My favorites include a healthy selection of heathland courses (Sunningdale, Woodhall, St. George's Hill, and Swinley Forest), because they represent both a unique style of golf and were designed by legendary golf architects)."

"My other favorites feature plenty of breathtaking views and quirky shots (County Down, Dornoch, Cruden Bay, Prestwick, Kingsbarns and North Berwick). Finally there is one upper crust course with a standout clubhouse and highland views (Loch Lomond). Turnberry would normally make my list, but given its current owner and the stupid cost of the greens fees it didn't make the cut."
